Monthly Tidbit for November

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil therefore, and the cattle thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.” (Joshua 8:1-2 KJV)

In the previous chapter, the people of God defeat the city of Jericho. God’s only instruction: destroy everything and take nothing. Unfortunately one an was so overcome by greed and all the nice things he saw that he decided to keep some for himself. In the end, it resulted in his death. The sad thing is not too much longer after that, God brought them to another city. He permitted them to go in and destroy it, and to keep only the spoil and cattle for themselves. Had this man just waited, he would’ve been rewarded for his faithfulness.

So the question is, how many times have you ended up missing out on a blessing God had just for you to take something you HAD to have right now? Jesus knows what you need and what you don’t need. Not everything that’s pleasing to you physically is always best for you spiritually and God knows that. Trust the Lord, wait on His promises; He’ll always come through every time.
